UPDATE: Fort Hood lifts boil water notices with continued normal stage 1 water conservation

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials have lifted all boil water notices for Fort Hood. All testing has been completed and all tests came back with clean results.

American Water, Fort Hood's water utility provider, issued a statement that all drinking water meets regulatory requirements at 11:06 a.m. July 16.

Normal Stage 1 water conservation measures remain in place. Stage 1 measures include:

(1) No watering of all types of landscaping between the hours of 1-5 p.m. daily. No water runoff allowed from areas being watered.

(2) No operating of fund-raising or organizational car washes between the hours of 1-5 p.m. daily.

(3) All personnel will minimize use of water for irrigation of landscaping and vehicle washing and will not waste potable water.

(4) No use of potable water to wash driveways, sidewalks or buildings for general cleaning. Exceptions may be authorized for certain activities (e.g.

spill response, contract actions, etc.)

(5) If residents experience problems with water flow or leaks, they should call the Directorate of Public Works service desk at (254) 287-2113.

UPDATE: Fort Hood moves from emergency water conservation to normal water conservation measures

FORT HOOD, Texas --  Fort Hood moved from emergency water conservation to normal water conservation measures this afternoon as significant progress was made in replenishing the installation's water supply.

The "Boil Water Notice" order remains in effect until officials from American Water receive confirmation from laboratory analysis that the water quality meets drinking water standards. Samples across the installation were collected today and testing is ongoing.

All units are authorized to conduct physical training on July 16.

All military and Department of the Army civilians will report to work at normal reporting times. Contract personnel should contact their employers for reporting times.

Fort Hood Child Development Centers will be open at the normal time to receive children.

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and outlying clinics are 100% medically operational.  Patients should plan to keep their appointments at respective clinics.

(1) No watering of all types of landscaping between the hours of 1300 - 1700 daily. No water runoff allowed from areas being watered.

(2) No operating of fund raising or organizational car washes between the hours of 1300 - 1700 daily.

(3) All personnel will minimize use of water for irrigation of landscaping and vehicle washing and will not waste potable water.

(4) No use of potable water to wash driveways, sidewalks, or buildings for general cleaning. Exceptions may be authorized for certain activities (i.e. spill response, contract actions, etc.)

(5) Report all water leaks to FH Service Desk.

UPDATE: Water tanks 50 percent full; conservation and boiling water continues

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Water pressure and flow are increasing across post, however, the need for boiling water will continue for 48 hours. Sampling across the post will be conducted during the next 24 hours until clean water results are verified. 

Fort Hood remains in Stage 4 water restrictions until further notice. Consumption of water by all customers shall be limited to essential use only. Customers are highly encouraged to conserve water, using only for drinking, cooking and/or personal hygiene until situation is completely resolved. This includes prohibition of lawn irrigation, washing of vehicles, filling of pools, non-essential indoor and outdoor use, etc. The quality of water has not been affected, just the quantity at this point.

If residents experience problems with water flow, they should call the Directorate of Public Works service desk at (254) 287-2113.

UPDATE: Progress made in restoring water; however, delayed reporting by military personnel for July 15

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Although progress has been made in restoring water availability here, the III Corps and Fort Hood senior commander has authorized delayed reporting by military personnel for July 15. All units will cancel physical training.

Soldiers and Airmen will report to work at 9 a.m. Department of the Army civilians will report to work at normal reporting times. Contract personnel should contact their employers for reporting times.

Fort Hood Child Development Centers will be open at the normal time to receive children.

Physical fitness centers will be open beginning at 9 a.m.

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and outlying clinics will resume normal hours and staffing July 15.  All outpatient clinics will be operational and patients should plan to keep their appointments at respective clinics.

In light of the continued conservation status, surgeries will continue to be handled on a case-by-case basis.   Patients with scheduled surgical procedures can expect to receive instructions directly from their care team.  Labor and Delivery will  assume a modified operations plan.  Patients should call the Triage Nurse at (254) 288-8398 or (254) 288-8400 for instructions.

The Emergency Department, Inpatient Services, Pharmacy, Lab,  and Radiology will continue normal operations.  Beneficiaries with emergent medical concerns should report to the Emergency Department for care.

CRDAMC staff should plan to report as scheduled.


The "Boil Water Notice" order will remain in effect until officials from American Water receive confirmation from laboratory analysis that the water quality meets drinking water standards.

Fort Hood officials will continue to monitor the water situation throughout the evening.  If projected improvements are slower than currently anticipated, the command may implement changes to this schedule and to current reporting procedures.
