Fort Hood College Fair: 02-03 April 2012

The Fort Hood Education Services Division is hosting a two-day College Fair on 02 April (1100-1900) and 03 April (0900-1400) at the Fort Hood Community Events Center. All Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees and Civilians affiliated with the Fort Hood Community are invited to attend. Representatives from 85 local and distance learning colleges/universities, as well as from Army Commissioning and career fields will be available to answer questions related to their programs. These Representatives will be providing informational briefings and provide the latest updates and materials at their booths.

This year's College Fair was designed with Army Retention, and the Army drawdown/Soldier transition programs in mind.  Active participation at the College Fair will expose Soldiers to the many traditional and nontraditional academic programs available to them, as well as allow our Soldiers to interact with school officials and learn more about the educational requirements associated with their current and future career goals. Soldiers seeking a full Army career will be able to take that first step toward enhancing their academic standing and establish a competitive edge over their peers in support of retention in the Army.  For Soldiers that might be impacted by the drawdown, this event will help Soldiers begin preparing for/earning an academic credential that will allow for a smoother transition back to the civilian sector.

The ESD will be hosting an information booth specific to the Army's requirement for Structured Self Development (SSD).  Soldiers will be able to learn more about these mandatory self-study training modules, as well as how they can earn up to 27 Semester Hours of college credit by completing Module One. **Note: Effective 01 Oct 12, Soldiers must complete Module One prior to attending the Warrior Leader Course (WLC).

The Community Events Center is located on Clear Creek Road, bldg 50012, Behind the AAFES gas station

The Garrison Commander is encouraging all members of the Fort Hood Community to take advantage of this unique education event, and spend an hour or two learning more about available academic programs that will help our Fort Hood Community pursue their personal and professional development goals.
