Fort Hood opens Hood Stadium Friday with ribbon cutting ceremony

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood will officially open its $13.5M Hood Stadium Complex with a ribbon cutting ceremony 9 a.m. Oct. 19.

Brig. Gen. James M. Richardson, III Corps deputy commanding general, will preside over the ceremony.

The multi-purpose athletic/entertainment venue is a replacement for the original Hood Stadium built in July 1951. The original stadium was torn down to make room for the new medical center.

The new Hood Stadium seats 5,500 in its bleacher section located on the west side of the field. All of the seats are armchair seats with handicapped seating located along the front part of the bleachers.

In addition to offering an athletic field and state-of-the-art track, the stadium also has a stage built to accommodate large entertainment acts who provide recreational opportunities for Soldiers and the community. The stage will have dressing rooms for the acts as well.

The parking lot has 1,000 spaces, with overflow parking available in the nearby Clear Creek Exchange and Community Events Center parking lots.

Media wishing to cover the ribbon cutting ceremony should register here. Media should meet at the Fort Hood visitor’s center south-side parking lot by 8:15 a.m.
