FORT HOOD, Texas -- The Chief Circuit Judge at Fort Hood has set the arraignment for 2:30 p.m. July 20 in the case of United States vs. Maj. Nidal M. Hasan in the Fort Hood courtroom -- the same location where the Article 32 hearing was held.

At the arraignment, Col. Gregory Gross, Fort Hood's chief circuit judge, will discuss rights held by the accused, such as his right to counsel.  An accused is also called on to enter a plea and can request a reading aloud of the charges.  The military judge may set additional deadlines concerning various issues for the parties, and may also set a trial date.

Hasan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Media who plan to cover the arraignment must register here. On the date for the event, Satellite Trucks should report to the Fort Hood Clarke Road Gate on West Highway 190 at 10:30 a.m. Truck registration ends at 11 a.m. All others should report to the parking lot of the 440 Plaza on Fort Hood Street, Killeen, Texas, from 12:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for final registration. All media should be prepared to show a U.S. driver's licence with photo and an accredited press badge with photo.
