FORT HOOD, Texas— The 3rd Cavalry Regiment will be celebrating its 173rd birthday during “Brave Rifles” Week May 14-18, here.

The 3rd Cav. Regt. recently returned earlier this year from a nine-month deployment to Iraq as part of a regular rotation of forces in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
Troopers worked alongside coalition partners and supported Iraqi Security Forces as they continued their fight to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS, provided security to the Iraqi people and set conditions for follow-on operations to increase long-term regional stability.

This was the regiment’s sixth deployment to Iraq, adding to its already storied 172-year legacy of service, and unlike last year, the entire Regiment of Mounted Riflemen will be together to celebrate this year’s Brave Rifles Week.

Brave Rifles Troopers, Families, veterans and friends of the regiment will celebrate the week-long occasion with sports, a spouse spur ride, a birthday barbecue bash, and many more events.

Media wishing to attend any of the events should RSVP to Staff Sgt. Taresha Hill via phone at 254-319-1493 or via email at taresha.d.hill.mil@mail.mil May 10 no later than 5 p.m.
