FORT HOOD, Texas -- The 3rd Cavalry Regiment is scheduled to conduct testing for the Army's Expert Infantryman Badge Apr. 23-27 at Fort Hood.

The weeklong event will be the first EIB test in the 3rd Cavalry Regiment's history.  It is the unit's first large-scale infantry training event since the unit converted from an armor-based force composed of tanks to an infantry-based force centered on the Army's medium weight Stryker vehicle.

The EIB is a coveted honor among infantry professionals in the U.S. Army.  In order to earn the badge, participants must endure a rigorous week of testing on critical infantry tasks, including land navigation, military operations in urban terrain, weapons function, first aid and the Army Physical Fitness Test.  More than 450 soldiers are expected to begin the weeklong test, which will conclude with an awards ceremony at 9 a.m. Apr. 27 on Rifles Field, Fort Hood.

A press kit with information on the event, including a schedule of events, can be found at http://www.forthoodpresscenter.com/go/doctype/3439/122135/
