FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood officials released the name of the Soldier who died Jan.1 from complications from an illness at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Pfc. Kai Yemale Yancey, 26, whose home of record is El Paso, Texas, entered active-duty military service in February 2015 as a motor transport operator. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, since 2016.

Yancey’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
