FORT HOOD, Texas — The 3rd Cavalry Regiment “Brave Rifles” will be conducting welcome home ceremonies at Abrams Physical Fitness Center for the Troopers redeploying from Iraq.

The 3rd Cav. Regt. deployed to Iraq in April 2018 as part of a regular rotation of forces in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and will be replaced by 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

This was the regiment’s sixth deployment to Iraq, which included participation in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Brave Rifles Troopers worked alongside coalition partners and supported Iraqi Security Forces as they continued their fight to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS, provided security to the Iraqi people and set conditions for follow-on operations to increase long-term regional stability.

In support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Troopers provided the Iraqi Security Forces with intelligence support, joint fires, aerial surveillance and training opportunities. They provided security forces, conducted air assault operations, established expeditionary firebases, and advised and assisted partner forces in the daily fight against ISIS.
