FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died of an apparent gunshot wound Jan. 2, 2017, in Killeen, Texas.

Pfc. Randal Kenneth Anderson, 22, whose home of record is listed as Sutter Creek, California, entered active-duty service in February 2015 as an M1 armor crewman. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 7rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd  Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, since June 2016.

Anderson's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
