Fort Hood will provide an update interview opportunity for its Solar/Wind farm
FORT HOOD, Texas -- The Fort Hood Director of Public Works, Brian Dosa, will host a media availability at 1 p.m. Nov. 2 providing an update on the construction of the Army's first hybrid renewable energy project that includes both off- and on-post power generation.
Once complete, the project will provide Fort Hood with an on-site solar system providing 15 megawatts and the remaining energy coming from a 50 megawatt off-site wind facility. The hybrid project will supply nearly half of Fort Hood’s power and is estimated to avoid $168 million in energy costs over the next three decades.
The contractor who is building the facilities is Apex Clean Energy.
