Fort Hood, GM and Raytheon announce graduation of inaugural class from Shifting Gears Training Program
Soldiers prepared for careers as automotive technicians
FORT HOOD, Texas — The U.S. Army, General Motors (NYSE: GM) and Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will host a graduation ceremony for the first Shifting Gears: Automotive Technician Training Program class at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 28 here. Created from a multi-year partnership between the two companies and the Army, the program empowers transitioning soldiers with the skills required to secure careers as GM service technicians.
Twenty-three soldiers will receive their certification as GM technicians during the ceremony, opening various service opportunities at GM dealerships across the country. Shifting Gears equips soldiers with technical expertise and experiential training during a 12-week, on-base program that also builds on Army core disciplines to provide students with self-management and problem-solving skills that will be invaluable throughout their civilian careers.
