Death of a Fort Hood Soldier

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive in a vehicle at an off-post establishment Oct. 4 in Killeen, Texas.
Sgt. Sean Phillip Christiansen, 27, whose home of record is listed as Tigard, Ore., entered active-duty service in May 2008 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. He was assigned to the 8th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since September 2014.
Christiansen deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn from December 2009 to December 2010.
Christiansen's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
