Fort Hood officials name east gate after Frank Mayborn

FORT HOOD, Texas -- III Corps and Fort Hood officials will hold a memorialization ceremony at 2 p.m. March 4 here to name the post's east gate in honor of Frank W. Mayborn.

Frank Mayborn is being recognized for his many efforts to ensure that Camp Hood was built in Central Texas.

The gate is near the intersection of Tank Destroyer Boulevard and Fort Hood Street.

Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, III Corps and Fort Hood commander, will be the keynote speaker for the ceremony. Milley's speech will be followed by an unveiling of the Frank W. Mayborn Monument by the III Corps commander and command sergeant major along with the Garrison commander, garrison command sergeant major and Sue Mayborn.

Sue Mayborn, spouse of Frank Mayborn, will also speak at the ceremony.

On the day of the event media should meet public affairs representatives at the southside parking lot of the visitor's center at 1:15 p.m.
